RPI Appreciates District Administration Pulwama for Swift Restoration of Essential Services

Pulwama, 1 February: The recent spell of heavy snowfall across District Pulwama turned out to be one of the most intense weather events of the season, significantly affecting normal life across towns and villages. While the plains witnessed continuous snowfall, the upper reaches recorded nearly 4 to 5 feet of snow, making road connectivity, electricity restoration, and movement extremely challenging.

For several days, many areas remained cut off as snow accumulated rapidly, blocking roads and damaging power lines. In such harsh conditions, restoring essential services was never going to be an easy task. However, despite the scale of snowfall and freezing temperatures, the District Administration Pulwama and its line departments worked consistently on the ground to bring the situation back to normal.

Rahmoo Public Interest (RPI) expresses its sincere gratitude and appreciation to the District Administration Pulwama, along with departments including PDD, Mechanical, R&B, Revenue, and other allied wings, for their coordinated efforts during this difficult period.

Electricity restoration and snow clearance operations were carried out simultaneously across the district. In many areas, power supply and road access were restored within a short time. In the upper and more remote areas, where snow depth reached several feet, the work naturally took longer due to difficult terrain and continuous snowfall. Even then, teams remained deployed day and night until connectivity and services were gradually restored.

Field staff, engineers, machine operators, and workers were seen working in extreme cold, clearing roads and repairing damaged infrastructure. Their presence on the ground, even during late hours, reassured people that help was not far away.

Mushtaq Ahmad, a resident from an upper village shared, “The snow was very heavy this time. Roads were completely blocked and vehicles could not move. It took a little longer here, but we saw machines working continuously. By the second day, the road was opened and electricity was restored. We really appreciate the effort.”

Another local shopkeeper said, “Considering the snowfall, the response was quite fast. In earlier years it used to take many days, but this time the administration acted quickly.”

Rehan Showkat, a student from Pulwama town added, “Even during heavy snow, our area did not stay without electricity for long. The teams were working throughout the day and electricity was restored within 48 hours.”

Speaking on the situation, RPI Chairman Sheikh Rayees stated that such coordinated efforts during emergencies strengthen public trust and show the importance of responsible governance. He noted that the administration and field teams worked under extremely difficult conditions and their commitment deserves appreciation from the community. He further said that acknowledging sincere work is equally important, especially when it directly benefits the people.

Rahmoo Public Interest believes that disaster situations test not only infrastructure but also institutional preparedness and human dedication. The recent snowfall once again demonstrated that with proper coordination and commitment, even severe weather challenges can be managed effectively.

RPI thanks all officers, engineers, operators, and ground staff who stood firm in harsh weather and ensured that roads were cleared, electricity was restored, and public grievances were addressed without delay.

Their service during this difficult period truly deserves recognition and respect.
