Rahmoo Public Interest (RPI) is a voluntary, non political, community led organisation working across District Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir. Founded in 2018, the initiative was created to serve the people, raise genuine public issues, and support local development with collective responsibility.
Rahmoo Public Interest operates under its registered legal entity name RPI Welfare Foundation, which is incorporated with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, as a non governmental non profit organisation. The organisation is registered under CIN: U88900JK2026NPL018764.
Over the years, RPI has grown into a strong district wide network, bringing together citizens, youth, professionals, and volunteers from more than 150 villages. This collective platform works with a shared goal of promoting public welfare, awareness, and positive change.
At the grassroots level, RPI engages with issues related to roads, electricity, water supply, healthcare, drug abuse awareness, cleanliness, youth engagement, and environmental concerns. Every matter taken up by the organisation is verified locally, pursued with the concerned departments, and followed until appropriate action is taken.
In 2018, Rahmoo Public Interest, commonly known as RPI, was founded in Rahmoo village, District Pulwama by Mr. Qayoom Khan, a prominent journalist from the area. Being from Rahmoo himself, he named the initiative to reflect its roots in the local community.
RPI began as a small group of volunteers working on basic village issues such as roads, electricity, and water supply. These early efforts helped build trust among residents and showed that collective action could bring real results.
Soon, Mr. Sheikh Rayees, a respected senior citizen of Rahmoo, joined the initiative. With his guidance and leadership, RPI became more structured and organised, allowing it to grow beyond Rahmoo into neighbouring villages.
As the work expanded, RPI formed its governing body and gradually covered Tehsil Rajpora. Today, RPI connects more than 150 villages across District Pulwama, making it one of the largest community driven platforms in the entire J&K.
RPI operates a dedicated community communication network where residents can raise issues and seek guidance. Verified matters are followed up with the District Administration and concerned departments, helping ensure that genuine public grievances receive attention and action.
Over the years, RPI has received recognition from the District Administration for its contribution to public service and community welfare.
Alongside civic work, RPI actively promotes positive social engagement. The organisation runs a cricket club, Ruma Reshi Cricket Club (RRCC), which has won several district level tournaments and plays a key role in engaging youth through sports. RPI also takes part in cleanliness drives, drug abuse awareness programs, and environmental protection activities.
Our mission is to give people a voice, raise genuine public concerns, and work for practical solutions by bringing together the community and the authorities for the betterment of Pulwama.
We envision a Pulwama where the gap between the administration and the people no longer exists, where problems are heard and acted upon, and where every village has access to basic services, dignity, and opportunity.
We stand for public interest, truth and transparency, community unity, and responsible action. We believe that service to society and respect for people must always come before personal or political interests.
We work at the ground level to raise public issues, support development work, and bring people and the administration together to improve everyday life across District Pulwama.
